Volunteers are the heart and soul of A Bit of Hope.  Without volunteers, the program would not be possible.  We are always looking for kind-hearted, patient individuals who are will to give their time for such a unique cause.

 

Volunteers are need in various capacities so if you do not feel that you are a “horsey person,” we have other things for which we need volunteers.  No matter in what capacity you are able to volunteer your time and energy, you are guaranteed to walk away with much more than you came.

 

Qualifications:

 

•  Volunteers must possess a positive attitude.

•  Volunteers must possess the ability to follow directions.

•  Volunteers must be able to work independently and complete   

    assigned tasks.

•  All volunteers must sign a liability release form and

    confidentiality forms.

•  Volunteers must be twelve (12) years old or older.

 

Responsibilities:

 

•  Must be able to commit at least one hour per week for an entire

    session.

•  Must be on time for lessons.

•  Must follow the rules and procedures set forth for the program.

•  Must complete tasks without interruption of class.

•  Must be willing to learn new things.

•  Must be responsible to instructor.

 

Dress:

 

•  Blue jeans and heavy boots are required when working in the

    barn and around the horses.

•  Cowboy boots or work boots are recommended.

•  No sandals/flip-flops around the horses.

•  No shorts shorter than knee-length are allowed.

•  No low-cut, strapless, or otherwise inappropriate shirts

    allowed.

•  No big or dangling jewelry.  Earrings are not recommended.

 

Behavior:

 

•  Always display appropriate behavior at all times.

•  No Running.

•  No “horse play”

•  No loud noises.

•  No aggressive behavior toward co-workers, clientele, or

    animals.

 

Duties:

 

•  Facility and equipment maintenance

•  Running errands

•  Assisting with tack

•  Assisting with horses before and after lessons

•  Side walk with rider

•  Help with fundraisers

•  Help with administrative duties

•  Help with planning/carrying out special events

•  Help with construction

•  Help with grounds keeping

 

Volunteer Orientation/Training:

 

New volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation/training workshop.  These workshops are scheduled on Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. until noon.  You must sign up prior to the workshop in order to attend.
